Charting Margaritaville Monday

090423 Happy Margaritaville Monday, Labor Day 2023. Like everyone in our era who lived to the beat of Jimmy Buffett songs in the background, I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing on Sept. 1 of the notable Palm Beach resident. As a native Floridian with a beach-filled life, I was also sad to hear he died of skin cancer. I survived melanoma half of my lifetime ago. I was one of the lucky ones. I’m not a big concert goer. Three times for me is a lot. I was and am a big fan. I saw JB in concert with my husband and friends in my 20s, a boyfriend and friends in my 40s, and at a charity gala for Everglades Foundation at The Breakers Palm Beach in 2017. It was one of the most fun charity events I have attended. All the guests danced, some of us right up by the stage. It doesn’t look like I am at a JB concert; it was disguised as a gala. JB was the reason I chose that event over others that year. His charitable spirit can live on through his foundation singingforchange.org . RIP JB. As for now on this holiday, for me It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere. Happy Labor Day.
