Charticle on Tony and Sonja Nicholson

Tony and Sonja Nicholson share with Chart how they started their philanthropic journey and became role models for philanthropic giving. The couple decided on two nonprofits where their gifts would offer lasting impact. The Nicholsons chose the largest local university, and now the second largest university in the country, University of Central Florida (UCF) for both academics and athletics, and Florida Hospital which is now AdventHealth.

As of 2024, they are adding the final touch to two legacy projects in their three decades of local philanthropy. The Nicholson Pavilion at Winter Park AdventHealth Hospital opened in 2019 providing 80 private rooms and a lobby. They specifically wanted to donate to Winter Park where they have lived for 20 years. For UCF, they donated to Nicholson Plaza on the UCF Football Campus, which will expand from Nicholson Fieldhouse to the stadium.

The dedication to supporting the causes bonded the Nicholsons with the organizations and other like-minded community leaders which created lifetime close friendships and many memories.
