Ena Heller, PhD, has led the Rollins Museum of Art (RMA) at Rollins College since 2012, a year before the opening of the visionary philanthropic The Alfond Inn. The boutique luxury hotel serves as a fundraiser by donating proceeds of the hotel to fund student scholarships. It also offers additional exhibit space, making RMA the only college art museum in the US to show part of its collection in a public place that is open 24/7. The Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art includes 600+ works donated by Rollins alumni and benefactors Barbara and Ted Alfond. RMA has 6000+ total works in their collection including the best holdings of contemporary art in Florida outside of Miami, European Old Masters and a strong American collection. Since Ena’s arrival at the private liberal arts college in 2012, she has exponentially grown the collection, community awareness, attendance and support. In response to the growth and interest, a new innovative RMA 31,000 square foot museum building is in the works. RMA will be located a few blocks from the current museum on campus, across the street from the Alfond Inn on New England Avenue, a block off Park Avenue in the heart of Winter Park. Downtown Winter Park is five miles northeast of downtown Orlando, and historically has been Central Florida’s hub of society, arts and culture. The college opened in 1885, added the Cornell Fine Arts Museum in 1978 which rebranded to Rollins Museum of Art in 2021, and now under the leadership of Heller is creating another milestone in a historic city that embraces and reveres its world-class arts, culture, history and charm.
