Owen O’Neill felt drawn to the medical field after a health incident in his early childhood. He then followed his passions of giving and helping others through medicine and was a nurse for nearly three decades. During these career years, he had the idea to repurpose durable medical equipment such as home hospital beds, wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, shower chairs and other medical equipment. He made his hobby into a highly successful nonprofit in 2005. Donations made their storage and repair shop building in West Palm Beach a reality, and a van was donated for easy pick up and deliveries to patients. Clinics Can Help loans equipment to patients in Palm Beach County. The patients who donate are pleased, the patients who receive are thankful, and Owen in his words is happy because, “the key to happiness is giving.”
