Stacey Mandell created a genre of narrative abstract art using Gregg Shorthand. She learned the phonetic writing system as a legal secretary prior to becoming a lawyer. She painted large wall-size canvases in series transcribing The Constitution and then Poetry from the Romantic Era. Her work has been commissioned in all sizes for poems, prayers, wedding vows and other writings meaningful to the collectors. She paused her highly successful art career for a few years after the unexpected passing of her husband in 2021. In spring 2025, Stacey picked up her paint brushes again and began a stunning and sentimental series on grief, using poetry from Alfred Lord Tennyson for example. The heartfelt pieces she is using for her own healing and to share with others vibrates with a universal feeling that all of humanity feels at some point.
