Ted and Anne Hoskinson had an idea for Roots and Wings to benefit children and families in need. After her passing, Ted created the organization with Above and Beyond Awards to honor Palm Beach County title 1 school teachers. A former teacher himself, he was made aware of the national literacy crisis and decided to help locally with Project UpLift. Through donations, the program pays certified teachers extra hours after school to tutor third graders with low scores in reading. The nonprofit in less than ten years has made giant steps to create awareness and offer at least one solution to help young students learn to read. Success starts with literacy. www.rootsandwings.org
